@WSJ Holding the Cambodian government and states accountable for not containing the scam industry is the right thing; however, labeling a country in that way is simply wrong.
English

Cybercrime syndicates operating in Cambodia have corrupted officials, enslaved workers, stolen billions and built scam compounds the size of small towns. No wonder it’s known as ”Scambodia.” on.wsj.com/4mD9yQB
English

@sstrangio The Cambodian government bears responsibility for the situation. However, the term "Scambodia" is a prejudicial label that is exploited by malicious actors to discriminate against innocent Cambodian people.
English

The use of "Scambodia" in the headline of this WSJ piece is getting quite a lot of pushback on Cambodian social media -- but frankly, Cambodia's government only has itself to blame. The piece provides a pretty good overview of a fatally serious problem.

🇹🇭 Thailand could become as hot as the Sahara by 2070.
The country’s current mean annual temperature is about 26°, high enough to place it close to the danger zone.
Climate projections suggest that by the end of the century, Thailand could cross 29°C threshold. Such conditions are currently found on only about 0.8% of the earth’s land surface, mostly in the Sahara.

@RadioKaKaKa @stats_feed Nah, Cambodia is over 2000 years old while Thai is about 800 years old.

Timeline of Cambodia: A Country of Enduring Slavery
1. Dominance by Siam (Thailand)
During the 15th–19th centuries, following the fall of the Khmer Empire,
Cambodia fell under the influence of Siam (Ayutthaya and later Rattanakosin).
Cambodian kings were appointed under Siamese authority, and at times, it was considered a tributary state.
2. Dominance by Vietnam
Vietnam, particularly during the 17th–19th centuries,
intervened in Cambodia's internal politics and attempted to annex some territories.
At times, Cambodia was "squeezed from two sides," namely Siam and Vietnam.
3. French Colonialism
From 1863, Cambodia became a French protectorate.
Later, it became part of French Indochina (including Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia).
It remained under French control until gaining independence in 1953.
4. Japanese Occupation (During World War II)
During World War II,
Japan occupied French Indochina, including Cambodia,
but still allowed France to administer it nominally (a form of “double control”).
5. Vietnamese Intervention and Occupation (Cold War Era)
From 1978–1989, Vietnam invaded and overthrew the Khmer Rouge government,
and established a new government in Cambodia with a long-standing military presence.
This was considered a “military occupation” from the perspective of many countries.
Summary
Cambodia has been influenced by or occupied by:
Siam (Thailand)
Vietnam
France
Japan
and more recently, Vietnam (in the context of the Cold War).
And now, they are enslaved by the Hun family.

@WalterRamjet @VigilantFox Since WWII, the only two countries that caused destructions to the world are the U.S. and Israel. I don’t know why your high IQ doesn’t see that.
