To be fair, this is a guy having conviction about his 1st ever selection as GM. Grier laughed off a decade-long issue that even a toddler could have figured out. We can be skeptical cause this has been a very poorly run organization, but I don’t see how you’re comparing the two.

Brady Tkachuk has been in the NHL 8 seasons — 5 of which he's been captain — and has made the playoffs twice. He has a 2-8 career playoff record. What does this say about him as a player? Nothing, IMO. But the people to whom this is meaningful will make an exception for him.

The Devils have the skill — Hughes x2, Hischier, Bratt. What they've been missing is the sandpaper layer. Mehta watched and helped Florida build exactly that layer. That's the blueprint he's bringing in!
