I joined with the First Minister for Scotland and the First Minister for Wales for a high level briefing from UK Government senior security advisers in relation to the ongoing situation in Iran and the middle east. These significant global events impact us all, and I know many people will feel apprehensive. There are a number of key issues, along with an assessment of the situation. This includes the UK armed forces military operations in the region, in a defensive role that is currently ongoing, the potential impact on UK energy supply chains and other supply lines, and of course importantly the safety of our citizens in the region. I know there are many, many hundreds of people from Northern Ireland who are living and working in the region, particularly the UAE. I raised the need for clear advice, and making sure all our citizens have the right help and support, including no matter on what travel documents they have travelled on. I will continue to do all I can to ensure all help and support is available to our citizens. Please do look for the official advice and shelter and keep yourself safe and await further updates. I will share to this account also. If you need particular support - please reach out.
