If you were presenting at a YOUTH coaches clinic (coaching 5-12U with little to no coaching experience) what are the most beneficial tips you’d give?

@timkawakami Inverse true with the 2010 Giants...won WS with big $$$ to Zito and Rowand. But they nailed Buster, Cain, Sandoval, Linceum, etc. If you win big then everything else is a nit pick.

Also, Ward was undrafted and Hargrave was a 3rd-rounder... still ended up with big free-agent deals.
The fixation is first-rounders. Yes, it's very important to nail those picks. But Super Bowls have been won and big contracts earned by nailing everything else.

Players the 49ers didn't spend a 1st-rounder to acquire: -T Williams (multiple non-1sts) -McCaffrey (same) -Deebo (2nd) -Warner (3rd) -Kittle (5th) -Greenlaw (5th) -Hufanga (5th) -Purdy (7th) -C Ward (F/A) -Hargrave (F/A) They're worth how they play, not how they were acquired.

For many reasons, Stanford has been very slow to embrace transfers (very tough with their academic requirements) and the NIL universe. It's just not how campus leadership thinks about the world. I guess that could change, but they're way behind and have been proud of that.

Shaw was a great coach for Stanford -- three Rose Bowl trips, two wins, .640 winning percentage even after 4 falling seasons. It's a very difficult job, even more so now in the NIL/transfer era. Gotta be tiring. He's right, it was time for both sides to move on.

On the flip side: It's just one exhibition game. But yes, if Wiseman just stays healthy, finishes at the rim when it's there, runs the floor and plays solid defense ... he can be quite valuable. And then expand his game from there.

@timkawakami ??? He looks GOOD like really good. Running the floor well and is very long. This the same team as least year adding Wiseman a footer to rim run, set screens, & block shots. Scary hours for the league.

@timkawakami How much cheaper has the Lance trade up become with this run? Like 10 spots at least right?

I still think it's probable that they will turn the team over to Lance next season. But THINGS CAN CHANGE and HAVE A BIT in the last few weeks. There's no reason to make a final determination now, realizing that things can change and they have until March to make this call.

Why do they have to make that decision now? Or even in three weeks? So many NFL observers demanded they make an either/or decision last March. They kept their options, holding onto Garoppolo AND drafting Lance. I never understand demanding answers when there isn't a need for it.
