Our research technician Mariana Moutinho is starting a staff exchange at @NIVAforskning under #BlueBio4Future! She’ll develop skills in bioprocess optimization, scale-up & bioreactor setup for microalgae. This will boost #CIIMAR’s expertise in marine biotech! 🍀💙

🎉 The final day of @BlueBio4Future was a huge success! Today’s open session featured amazing talks on topics ranging from protein structural prediction to the chemical ecology of ant-fungi symbiosis and genome mining tools! Huge thanks to all who joined—let’s keep going! 🚀

After a morning on phylogenetics & biosynthetic clusters, the afternoon took us into protein & enzymology structure/function prediction. 🧬 👨‍🏫 Lectures from Arménio Barbosa (UNL) & Raquel Castelo Branco (CIIMAR) guided participants before diving into hands-on sessions.

Day 2 of the #BlueBio4Future Short Course is underway! We started with an inspiring session by Hans Singh (Univ. of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa) on phylogenetic approaches for natural product discovery & NaPDo2S. Now, participants are getting hands-on with NaPDo2S & BiG-SCAPE!
