Borderline conditions, but had enough of a “dry” spell to get another 40 acres in before a 0% chance of rain turned into 100%. I feel for you guys that need rain, but we can’t seem to miss one here. It’s inching up on June pretty fast

This is stopped at 7pm this evening across northern Illinois. Models are now showing an extremely dangerous scenario with multiple intense supercells ongoing. These start developing around 2-4pm and really mature early this evening. Along I-80 REALLY needs to monitor the weather today. This is a very scary outlook with an environment extremely primed for tornadoes and very large hail. #ilwx

Thursday's Severe Weather Update: - We continue to monitor the latest trends for northern Illinois on Thursday, and we continue to see an atmosphere supportive of robust t-storms mid-afternoon into early evening. Large, destructive hail is the main hazard, with a secondary threat of damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes. Timing remains 2pm-8pm, and coverage should remain low as models try to pop a few t-storms over northern Illinois. Areas in the enhanced risk have the highest chance for isolated severe t-storms tomorrow, and the risk lowers as you go southwest. Hail may be larger than baseballs in the strongest cells. #ilwx
