Brookhurst Reception

Christmas has very much arrived in Reception! So much fun has been had - christmassy playdough, making snowmen, decorating the tree and practising for our Christmas play! @MrGunchala @BrookhurstPri

We looked at the composition of 5 and started writing number sentences. We practised our fine motor control by threading beads and pasta onto sticks and we thought about and wrote rhyming words! We also had lots of fun playing with the ice outside. @MrGunchala @BrookhurstPri

We have been thinking about Remembrance day and doing lots of poppy themed art work. We practised our subitising with 4 and 5, used magnetic numbers to match to their numeral and took part in an anti-bullying workshop which was lots of fun! @MrGunchala @BrookhurstPri

Another fun week in Reception. Our main focus has been on celebrating Bonfire Night! We've created firework artwork and written CVC words linked to fireworks. We also had a special visit from Warwick bear to help us learn about road safety! @MrGunchala @BrookhurstPri

Reception have been enjoying Halloween activities this week: hammering golf tees into pumpkins, using tweezers to get creepy crawlies out of a web and making potions! We also read Owl Babies and sequenced pictures from the story. @MrGunchala @BrookhurstPri

Reception have been busy getting messy in gloop, subitising, writing CVC words and having lots of fun playing! @MrGunchala @BrookhurstPri

Another fun week in Reception! We read the Colour Monster and discussed how we were feeling, creating our own feelings jar. We also created our own repeating patterns! @MrGunchala @BrookhurstPri

This week Reception got their wellies on and had a great time on an Autumn walk. We've compared mass using balancing scales, created autumn trees with paint, practised our fine motor skills with elastic bands and learnt more sounds! @MrGunchala @BrookhurstPri

A busy week learning about each other and what makes us special! We've loved doing our first piece of writing and enjoyed the outside area during the last bits of warmth! @MrGunchala @BrookhurstPri

In Reception this week we have made pebble pictures of our families and enjoyed lots of other exciting activities too!
