Todd was forced to draw Spider-Man like Romita Sr; but once his art proved popular enough, his became the new standard, so on and so forth

Using Spider-Man as an example and then using Todd McFarlane’s big eye design just doesn’t work as well as you think
Spider-Man artists before him were asked to draw based on how John Romita Sr. drew the book, but Todd changed that.

It’s not the end of the world but I really wish they used later Greg Martin art instead of his earlier Sonic design because it’s so much better in comparison to his old stuff
He still has that edge but he resembles the original vision for the character

so i have a theory, and i'm dubbing it "mohawk telephone". i genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, believe that each time a new artist had to depict american sonic, they were given the work of the previous artist as reference, and each time, they made the mohawk more prominent.

@Ultima_Undead Sega/Sonic Team have always been inconsistent with their rulings and choices (if I had to guess, the others aren’t given Super Forms to add more weight to its uses in SA1, 2, etc) so I wouldn’t be surprised if they go back on this within another year or two
