Not sure why you conflate two different independent problems because a publicly traded centralized stablecoin issuer is NOT DeFi.
Compliance of your own infra / clients for the latter while $230M of illicit activity was laundered over 6 hrs for a clear cut case is as bad of an example as it gets.
Abusing legal inefficiencies against victims instead of implementing real time solutions is not the answer.
Circle does not get to reap the benefits of both centralization and decentralization arbitrarily for when it best suits them.

This probably won’t be a popular take but I actually like the Polymarket insider trading.
Before prediction markets, the Warsh stuff would have leaked to like 2-3 global macro funds who would position to make billions in PnL. Now one guy is greedy and destroys the Polymarket order book to make like 300k, and in return we all know what’s up.
