We are heartbroken by the loss of Madalynn “Maddie” Hadfield. Maddie was only 14, but the impact she made in the Minnesota Hockey community reached far beyond her years. A true cheerleader, she supported her brother Brady and so many others at the rink with a steady, caring presence. Though reserved, Maddie had a way of connecting with people and making everyone feel supported. Through her dad, Nick—Director of Diversified Hockey—Maddie was deeply rooted in our community, but the impact she made was entirely her own. We hold her mom, Melissa, her dad, Nick, and her brother, Brady, close in our hearts during this incredibly difficult time. Gophers AD Mark Coyle interviewed 2 college coaches this weekend, including St. Cloud State’s Brett Larson, and Hartford Wolf Pack coach Grant Potulny. So one mystery college coach. Hearing there may be one other candidate interviewed, too. Usually Coyle acts fast and there’s tons to do (portal opens after Frozen Four, determining which players he’ll keep, which are leaving), so I bet he has a men’s hockey coach decision soon. Coyle is speaking for the first time since the coaching changes later today to introduce Greg May as the women’s coach.

Awful tragedy to her family and everyone affected by that. That's just a lovely person that I got to know going to Minnesota, so my thoughts and prayers were with her and her family."
