LOVE AND HONOR….. lots of RESPECT for @MiamiOH_BBall & @MiamiOH_WBB what a great year on the court winning the MAC this year with coach of the year on both teams alone with players of the year… Understand it just getting started with work to do for next year…
We live in a world where the non high major has to “validate” that they belong & when they don’t, they get criticized for being included.
Miami’s showing they didn’t belong — in the First Four. Deserved to be playing for first time Thursday or Friday. All good: MAC makes more $!
"I don’t think anybody had a more important first game than Miami (OH) because it was going to shape the way that people talk about them forever.”
@GaryParrishCBS says the RedHawks proved that they belong in the NCAA Tournament 👏
Happy for Miami University.
Happy for Wally Szczerbiak.
But most of all, happy for Travis Steele.
Four years after his tenure ends at Xavier, Steele beats a power conference team in an NCAA Tournament game down the road from the Cintas Center.
Life is beautiful.
The Miami RedHawks are the first team since Larry Bird's 1979 Indiana State Sycamores to:
-Begin regular season unranked in the AP poll
-Finish the regular season undefeated
-Win an NCAA Tournament game
Didn't lose a regular season game. Should have never had to play a game in Dayton.
Took advantage anyway in an awesome environment and beat a power-conference team by double digits. Lifetime memory for that fan base.
Miami is legitimized, tonight and forever.
Tonight @MiamiOH_BBall:
scored 80+ points
dished out 20+ assists
made 15+ threes
had fewer than 5 turnovers
Never in NCAA Tournament history had any team done that in a game.
