@alexwmuller_NH @goosepoop_ For D1-3 it's not that difficult. Sure there will be more travel, but most teams in those divisions are very south. It gets tricky at the lower divisions (i.e. Iron Mountain to White Pigeon), which I think is the reasoning behind the geographic pairings in the first place.

@goosepoop_ Question is how much do schools and the MHSAA care about travel?
If it's "not an issue" then we oughta seed the entire left/right sides, if not just 1v32, 2v31, etc to fully optimize competitive balance and the current system in place.
But is that even realistic/feasible?

d1 bracket is actually unbalanced in its *current* form, 4 of top 5 rated teams all on one side:

If you saw our predictions, you saw we had Region 2 and 3 flipped. The final pairings were definitely created for a competitive balance instead of geography. We may as well just rank #1 vs. #32, #2 vs. #31, etc.

Howell (Mich.) 2025 RB Justin Jones is a really good player.
