One thing people aren’t talking about enough with Mateus Fernandes is how much he could change the role of Bruno. In so many games, Bruno ends up dropping deep just to help with progression because nobody else can consistently receive from the CBs, carry the ball forward or find those line-breaking passes. With Mateus in the team, Bruno can spend more time where he’s most dangerous closer to the final third. Let Mateus handle the progression, let Bruno focus on creating chances. That’s a midfield balance we’ve been missing for years

if you’re fed up watching clubs blow £80m+ on stars who’ve already peaked, then smart ligue 1 scouting is the ONLY sane way forward right now. forget the hype names everyone’s chasing for a minute, do you guys even know there are gems out there who can actually and will grow into world-class players while costing a fraction of the usual inflated transfer fee madness ? take ayyoub bouaddi. the boy played was the most composed cm on the pitch against brazil, even though he’s still 18. the way he shifts his hips to receive and release under pressure is ridiculous for his age. he still wins his fair share of loose balls, he thrives in tight spaces, and then suddenly you see him bursting forward on those deep runs down the right,he can absolutely shift. physically he’s got the frame to handle the premier league if he ever plays here, technically he’s clean, and mentally he looks like he’s been playing at this level for yearssss. i’m not saying drop everything and go all-in, but clubs like arsenal are clearly circling this summer for good reason. he’s got that special mix of athleticism and football iq that screams top-level no.8 in the making. a transfer fee would probably look a lot like what united paid for leny yoro, big money on paper for someone with limited senior minutes. but in today’s market, that might actually be the bargain route if you believe in the ceiling. united scouts have been on him for over a year, so i’d love to know if they’re still seriously in the mix. same goes for other sharp options like lamine camara, lee kang-in types, or mamadou sangare. this is how you beat the inflation game: stop paying over the odds for ready-mades and start bringing in hungry, high-potential kids who’ll be worth double in three seasons.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’d rather have profiles like Rice, Kanté, and Vitinha in my pivot than Caicedo, Tchouaméni, or Rodri, and it seems Michael Carrick agrees. With that being said, unless Michael Carrick is calling you for tactical advice, stop stressing about how a midfield of Mainoo, Ederson, Bruno Fernandes, and Matheus Fernandes will work. He’s the one getting paid to figure it out, not you.
