@DMenHoops That isn’t true. UConn and Michigan only played seven guys more than 9 minutes. Benches are actually probably thinner than ever before because reserves can transfer immediately without penalty.

@wischlist NIL has not leveled the field though. What I see is that the "rich" schools now have longer benches with quality players going 9-10 deep. Before those players would transfer to get more playing time. Now the $$$ keep them

@DMenHoops The NBA is garbage. College athletics are thriving. I’d argue that NIL and the portal have actually leveled the playing field and give more teams chances to win. Again, guardrails would be a good thing. But college sports are not dying.

@wischlist Yes, ratings were up but NBA is also quickly declining. Multi-year contracts need to be implemented to protect the other schools. No way for courts to stop this. Also D1 needs to remove the min. 14 sports teams requirement. That way non-football schools can focus all resources

@DMenHoops I saw three conferences in the Final Four and none of them were the SEC. And I saw five conferences were in the Elite Eight. The NCAA Tournament also set records for ratings this year, I believe.

@wischlist With many of these schools losing out in this "new way", then you will eventually see the ratings go down. Logic says that when only 2 conferences exist, that the others will lose interest.

@DMenHoops I see what’s happening. And there needs to be guardrails. But if you think the sport is going back to the way it was, it isn’t. The courts have changed it. It’s different, but it still produced a dynamic regular season and a great NCAA Tournament.
