A nuanced take on government run grocery stores, as a reply to an absolute diaper-filling by some AI twit. I'm sure the AI twit will be making the TV rounds soon, and the person with genuine insight is receiving angry donor calls as we speak.

I don’t live in NYC nor do I want to but one thing to mention is that I know the idea of public grocery stores has become easy fodder for critics, but if you move past the politics, there’s precedent. This isn’t some radical new idea in the U.S. The USDA, under both Republican and Democratic administrations, has a track record of funding publicly supported grocery stores, including co-ops and nonprofit retail models. These programs continue to offer financial, technical, and planning support to help bring healthy food access to underserved communities and prices down. In Jersey City, we experimented with different approaches to food access. We were the first in NJ to pilot the “Healthy Corner Store” model. We gave it a real shot. It didn’t work as well as I had hoped, but I’m still glad we tried. One major lesson: it’s tough to incentivize store owners to change long-established economic habits, even when the public benefit is clear. Zohran Mamdani won an election that comes with a platform, and I get it criticism comes with the territory. But it’s easier to take shots than to do the homework and realize this isn’t as fringe as some might assume. The current food access system isn’t working. Exploring solutions isn’t a bad thing and shouldn’t be dismissed just because it doesn’t fit neatly into a party talking point. We’d all be better off having a real debate grounded in history rather than one shaped by knee-jerk reactions or partisan instinct.

🚨 Mystery Drones Over NJ: A Domestic Security Gap We Can’t Ignore 🚨 I’ve been on @CNN , @NewsNation , @CBSNews , & @BBCNews discussing the thousands of unidentified drones over NJ. Rumors are swirling—foreign adversaries, secret U.S. ops, even aliens. The truth? Their origin matters less than our defenselessness to any drone with malicious intent. Drones are here, now—and without urgent action, we risk real harm. Dive in 🔽 (1/6)

Gringojobs.com has officially launched! The job board that connects Mexican talent with US companies. And its Thanksgiving week, so since most gringos are going to be in a food coma, mejor hablo con los candidatos.

@elonmusk Mr. Musk, is this a poster for sale that I can put up in my office? We just put a Starlink on the roof in NYC during a building internet outage that saved several days of productivity. 💪

The phrase “Global Citizen” emerged in the late 90s as an aspirational term for consultants and striving middle managers who identified more with the university name on their sweatshirt and the W hotel aesthetic than they did with their families or neighborhoods. It is passé. Middling. And embarrassing. Most people stopped saying it for a reason.
Mike Solana@micsolana

we aren't "global citizens," we are americans. it is very crazy that this needs to be said, and very dangerous that it only needs to be said in america — literally nobody else on earth thinks this way.

Never forget: HOLT: Why not go to the border? KAMALA: We’ve been to the border. So this whole thing about the border. We’ve been to the border. We’ve been to the border. Holt: You haven’t been to the border. Kamala: … and I haven’t been to Europe.
