I like Dan but come on being honest with the media and saying the blatant truth this guy isn’t pitching well shouldn’t be difficult in 2026. If saying that loses him the locker room then he never had the locker room’s attention to begin with.

The Yankees also got their asses kicked all year by TOR last season. They were bullied and looked mentally defeated, especially after that crucial 4-game sweep. Every year there’s a new prolonged rough patch where the team gets their shit pushed in, looks half asleep, has awful body language on the field and in the dugout and it keeps happening no matter how many different players are turned over on the roster. At what point does the common denominator who sets the tone and the culture in that clubhouse take some blame? The Yankees chose to hire him because he was softer and more player friendly than Girardi. So they’re acknowledging a culture shift that’s directly tied to the manger. If it’s always the player’s fault then why do managers ever get fired?

All I’m going to say is, most of sports twitter doesn’t have a clue how important locker room culture and leadership is from your manager.
There’s been a predictable trend of lethargic, half-asleep baseball played for YEARS.
