NDS2: Harare's Seke-Delport Interchange Project The construction of the **Seke Road-Delport Road interchange** is a significant step in easing the "bottleneck" traffic between Chitungwiza and Harare. By linking Delport Road all the way from **Mabvuku**, the project effectively creates a new eastern bypass, allowing traffic from Mutare Road to reach the southern industrial areas and the airport without entering the CBD. 1️⃣The Interchange Design ✍🏽Grade Separation: Like the Mbudzi Interchange, this project aims to eliminate the traffic light system at the current T-junction, using flyovers or loops to ensure a "free-flow" environment. ✍🏽*Strategic Access: It will serve as a primary artery for the **Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport**, which has seen increased traffic since its recent expansion. 2️⃣The Mabvuku-Delport Link Connecting Mabvuku to Seke Road via Delport is a major undertaking that involves: ✍🏽New Road Servicing: Constructing several kilometers of high-grade asphalt road through previously undeveloped or semi-rural land. ✍🏽Industrial Connectivity: This link provides a direct route for heavy vehicles coming from the eastern border (Forbes Border Post) to reach the southern industrial hubs and the **Sunway City Integrated Industrial Park**. 3️⃣Impact on Local Infrastructure ✍🏽Congestion Relief: It will drastically reduce travel time for commuters from Chitungwiza and the Manyame area who currently face heavy delays at the Delport turn-off during peak hours. ✍🏽Economic Corridors: This project aligns with the broader **Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP2)**, focusing on creating interconnected "outer rings" around the capital to decentralize traffic. This project represents a shift in Harare’s urban planning, moving away from a radial road system (where all roads lead to the center) toward a more modern, grid-based network that facilitates movement between suburbs.

From an economic standpoint, the absence of a strong e-commerce platform in Zimbabwe is not accidental it’s structural. E-commerce depends on three key pillars: reliable logistics, affordable digital payments, and broad internet access. Zimbabwe currently struggles on all three. Delivery systems are costly and inefficient, which makes last-mile logistics expensive relative to the value of most goods. On the payments side, fragmentation between USD, ZiG, and limited trust in digital systems makes seamless transactions difficult. Then there’s the demand side. Internet penetration is around 38%, and within that, a significant portion of users are on low-cost WhatsApp bundles, not fully active on broader digital platforms. That limits the size of the addressable market for true e-commerce. So the issue is that the economics don’t yet support scale. Until infrastructure, payments, and purchasing power improve, e-commerce will remain constrained.
COMANDANTE🦍@hankasello

Why haven't there been a major e-commerce platform in Zimbabwe like Takealot SA or even the giants like Amazon??
