Shovels in the ground digging up excitement for a brand-new clean energy project in Minnesota! Our team was excited to dig up dirt for a groundbreaking to kick off a renewable natural gas project that will transform food and yard waste collected from Twin Cities’ community members into locally produced and lower carbon energy. Working with @Dem_Con and Kanadevia Inova, this made-in-Minnesota RNG will flow through CenterPoint’s system as early as 2027 to heat homes and businesses with locally made renewable energy. The initiative is part of CenterPoint’s five-year innovation plan to invest in renewable energy and cutting-edge technologies to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions for our customers and advance Minnesota’s cleaner energy future. Dem-Con celebrates America Recycles Day! Did you know that Dem-Con’s Materials Recovery Facility recycles 125,000 tons of material a year? Recycling saves energy, natural resources and reduces the environmental impacts of making new materials.

Our Green Grades Program has had so much fun the last couple weeks as school wraps up in Scott County. Shout out to @ShakopeeSchools, @aspenacademyk8 and Eagle View Elementary school for their dedication to educating their school communities about recycling and waste!

Lithium-ion batteries cause fires and don’t belong in your bin! While these batteries are great for their high energy, they wreak havoc for the waste & recycling industry because when damaged, they can cause fires. youtu.be/edf8EJ7CKMg

Dem-Con processes 15,000-20,000 tons of shingles per year. Shingles that once were landfill-bound get a new use. The processed shingles get added to asphalt mix and become part of new roads and parking lots. They can also be added to gravel roads to control rutting and dust.
