Officers threw the frail pensioner, who has had double hip replacements, into the back of a van, then held her in a cell for two hours and refused her a chair. This thuggish treatment of a peaceful elderly woman, while violent mobs often face lighter responses, shows how far free speech has fallen in the UK.

I am done feeling afraid in my own town and I shouldn’t have to feel this way in the first place. Women are told to change everything about how we live just to stay safe. Walk faster. Stay alert. Don’t go out alone. Why is the burden always on us? Safety is a basic right.
