It’s been a week of crises, chicanery & Chardonnay in Parliament as ambitious Labour MPs anticipate Starmer’s demise. And it seems that Angela Rayner got a bit carried away with her premature celebrations…. See the full podcast here youtu.be/4p6Sje1j1HY?si…

Jean Taylor set up ‘Families Fighting for Justice’ after her daughter, Chantel, was brutally murdered. The killer went on to desecrate and conceal Chantel’s body. Jean believes this should be a criminal act in itself and not just an aggravating factor for sentencing. By destroying & hiding Chantel’s body not only did it deprive Jean and Chantel’s 3 children from ever fully grieving their loss and laying her to rest - it also destroyed key evidence of her murder. I’m grateful to the Minister for agreeing to meet with Jean & me to try and make this heinous act a criminal offence. #Chantelslaw #familiesfightingforjustice @FFFJustice

The rumour is that the delays to the government adhering to the Humble Address Motion to release the information on Mandelson’s appointment is due to Cabinet Ministers refusing to hand over their mobile phones for fear of the messages on them with Mandelson and the embarrassment it might cause them. So I asked the Minister if that was the case….

@zatzi Oh do get lost , how many disabled people died under your brothers governments watch. 1000s. We,ve not had the investigation into this yet, the UN had one , then the Tories ignored the findings. Not replied and backed them yet, you know Im right I guess. The evidence is there.

There once was a man called Keir Starmer, Who swore he would make Britain calmer. But the wheels came unstuck, So he just passed the buck, Now he’s known as Sir Keir the Brit Harmer.

@Domstandsup @EstherMcVey1 Mullered you mean not murdered. Nuance, please, as I don't think it's appropriate to refer to a former Cabinet Secretary's actions as being murderous in the carrying out of policy that clearly did run some number of people into the ground, but whether it was thousands I'm unsure

You can now add the word ‘hypocritical’ to ‘loony’ and ‘dangerous’ when it comes to describing the Green Party  under its cult leader Zack Polanski. Environmentalism & Animal Rights is apparently what they are supposed to stand for, yet this weekend I read about a Green Councillor in Manchester - Cllr Zoe Marlow - who was convicted of starving her dog to a skeleton which had to be put down. Then I read about a Green candidate in Newcastle - Mohammed Suleman - whose company was fined for illegally burning waste. What an unpleasant bunch they are.

Civil Servants to oust stubborn Starmer. 👇 my column in today’s Express Starmer’s continued insistence he knew nothing about Mandelson’s failed vetting is beyond implausible, it’s embarrassing.   Especially when coming from a former lawyer who never tires of telling the public he’s a stickler for detail, forensic with questions and someone who follows process. And yet, for one of the government’s biggest appointments, he failed to do any of that.   And then, as the whole sorry saga unraveled and revelation after revelation hit the headlines, sanctimonious Starmer - who boasted he would never let staff take the fall for his mistakes - threw advisors after civil servants under the bus rather than apologise and explain his actions.   Starmer once asked Boris, ‘Why does the Prime Minister think everybody else’s actions have consequences except his own?’ It’s as if he’d written that question for himself for this very occasion.   Mandelson’s appointment always had a bad whiff about it.  Firstly, Starmer didn’t reappoint Karen Pierce, the previous ambassador, who by all accounts was doing a marvellous job and was highly respected. Then he hastily appointed Mandelson without completing his vetting against the explicit instructions of senior civil servant Lord Case.   Perhaps Starmer’s haste was because Trump was running rings round him at press conferences. Remember Starmer fumbling on his knees picking up Trump’s papers, the grovelling handing over of the King’s invitation and the absolute skewering he took from Trump about his non-sensical policies on energy, farming and underpayment to NATO? Such feeble performances by leaden-footed Keir must have made him think he needed a better operator than himself to man-mark the mercurial Trump, and who better than the Prince of Darkness himself.   The rushed appointment suggests Starmer he knew red flags would he raised about his friend but he wanted to make him US Ambassador anyway, and he would have made it clear to officials this was going ahead whether they liked it or not, (spoiler: they didn’t) after all Mandelson’s relationship with Epstein was common knowledge as was his business dealings with China and Russia through his company Global Counsel.  You didn’t need MI6 level vetting to tell you that - you just had to read the newspapers!   The idea that any civil servant - not least one as skilled as Oliver Robbins - would unilaterally take a huge personal gamble to keep the PM in the dark about a matter of such importance is preposterous.   I remember once receiving a letter when I was the Minister in DWP from the lead official who didn’t think we could deliver a particular policy. The off-the-record letter setting out his concerns was not to come to light unless the project failed. I’m happy to say that the policy worked and the letter never saw the light of day, but it  nevertheless shows how civil servants are the absolute experts in backside covering to ensure they cannot take the rap should anything go wrong.    So far Labour MPs, the only ones who can remove Starmer, have proved too weak to do the job and Starmer, with the skin of a rhino, has no intention of going willingly and resigning.   After what is being considered as act of war against his civil servants, it might be them who prove the most ruthless and see him off. Watch out for more media briefings and for that ‘backside covering letter’ that might just make the light of day.
