I resigned on the spot one time after the owner of the company insulted my parents. Closing was 5pm and around 4:57pm, the man called HR and asked that I should prepare for a trip immediately. I had other plans for the day and told him I couldn't go, especially since it was outside Lagos and returning the same day wasn't guaranteed. I told her I couldn't go and while on speaker, he rained insults on me and said I wasn't well trained, he said a few more mean things and while he was speaking, I just said, "tell your boss I'm resigning and on the last day of the month, I'm coming for my salary for all of the days that I worked". I went to the reception and wrote my resignation letter, gave it to HR and left. As God would have it, I started a new job with a company in the same street two days after. The man came to our house and asked after me, they told him I had gone to work and baba was paraing that he was only joking with me and needed me to resume immediately. I laughed when I was told, but the ship had sailed.
