1/6 Another Black woman was kidnapped and held by the state, which resulted in her death. On January 19, Brittany Kittrell died 4 days after being arrested and placed in Durham County Jail on a $5000 bond. #DurhamCountyJailKills #BrittanyKittrell #SayHerName

Let’s make this clear: “Abolition is about presence, not absence. It’s about building life-affirming institutions” - Ruth Wilson Gilmore. Abolition is about investing in each other and our right to joy.

Our purpose with this townhall was to push for transparency and inclusion in the conversations we’ve been having with administration for months. Our goals are the same: disclose, divest, disband.

An equitable and just world can’t exist until we invest in healing instead of policing. We hope you ended tonight with more questions and urgency.

In light of the BCAP town hall: Duke Mutual Aid fully supports @DukeBCAP and police abolition, specifically of the Duke and Durham police departments. Anything less reinforces white supremacy and causes immense harm to our community.
