Our kindergarten scientists @HarrietTubmanES explored the dandelion life cycle today. They recreated diagrams, observed plant parts under a microscope, examined real dandelions with magnifying glasses, and even painted their own dandelions 🌼.

Our 3rd graders were electrical ⚡️engineers today! They built closed & open circuits using a battery pack, LED light, and alligator clips. Then they tested different materials to see which ones could conduct electricity 💡 Thanks @KIDMuseumMD for this hands on investigation.

Our scientists in 1st grade @HarrietTubmanES tested which “beak” works best! Using straws (warbler beak🐤) or cups (duck beak🦆 ) to pick up “food” (cut straws) vs. “rocks” (beans), they explored how animal features aid in survival. Thanks @MysterySci for this great lesson!

4th graders @HarrietTubmanES are celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth in STEM by learning about George Washington Carver! 🌱 After exploring his work in agriculture, students were challenged to sketch, design, and tinker a tool he might’ve used as an agricultural scientist & inventor.

From reading to building! Our first graders @HarrietTubmanES learned about the Maya civilization in literacy and then designed their own temples in STEM. When designing they had to include steps, layers, balance, and pyramid shape. Learning is even better when it’s hands on!

Our Kindergarteners explored Indi, a color-based robot car that lets students design mazes while learning coding and problem-solving. The kids were SO excited, and I learned right along with them! Huge thanks to Ms. @EricaFields_ for making learning this fun 🤖🎨

Our @HarrietTubmanES students explored Cublets (3rd grade) and Sphero indi (2nd grade) robots with no step-by-step directions. They learned by trying things out, working together, and discovering how the robots work through play!

Our 5th graders @HarrietTubmanES combined science and creativity by using their knowledge of circuits to design and build paper circuit cards in STEM.

Our fall pattern block challenge wasn’t hard enough. This first grade student took it a step further and insisted on naming every block we used. twitter.com/EricaFields_/s…
