Act Establishing Statehood for Florida, March 3, 1845.
Today we’re celebrating Florida’s 180th birthday! Florida became the 27th state admitted to the Union on March 3, 1845. This act of Congress is Collection M81-22 at the State Archives of Florida; it establishes Florida and Iowa as official members of the United States. You can read the full text of the act and other historic documents pertaining to Florida’s founding through the State Archives’ digital outreach program, Florida Memory.
