The Face Mask Store is based in Somerset, UK. We specialise in the supply of respirator face masks, from brands such as 3M, Moldex, Alpha Solway and GVS etc.

More hospitals have declared critical incidents as they battle against rising flu cases, which have risen by 63% in the last week. The UK Health Security Agency is warning people that it's the last chance to get vaccinated against flu before Christmas. @NityaGRajan reports.

I'm glad that the black Project 3 Trident FFP3 masks have the potential to work for many people and I'd like to see Project 3 thrive for giving people the less medical looking, high performance masks they've been clamoring for. That being said, the strap tension on the Project 3 masks is very high, too high for many people in spite of there being an "extended straps" option for the regular/large size. So, I would still like to see @3M make the black Aura tri-fold that we've all been asking for for *years*. But even if they did, I don't feel that 3M could resist printing "3M" in giant, contrasting letters all over the mask, which would defeat the reason people want a black Aura, which is to look nicer and not industrial or medical in appearance. That is where @FaceMaskStore and @TridentSafety1's Project 3 stands out to me versus 3M. When the earlier version of the Project 3 masks were released a while ago they landed on the market with a thud, because they had bright white regulatory text across the middle panel, like having a mattress tag stuck to your face (I don't know if regulatory mattress tags are thing outside the US). They were so close to being the masks people wanted, but also so far. Project 3 misunderstood the assignment. So, Project 3 did what I think 3M would not - they listened to consumers and remade their masks. Project 3 followed suggestions that I and others made that if they had to print they regulatory text on the masks maybe they could make it less prominent and put it on the bottom panel. And that is what they did, and I hope they will find success in being responsive to critical, reasonable customer feedback. Perhaps some time in the future they will be able to provide strap tension options in sizes other then the regular size. And maybe find a way to get the regulatory text off of the middle panel of the extra small size, which still has it presumably because the there isn't enough room on the extra small bottom panel.

Finally! Nice looking black tri-fold respirator masks that perform as well as 3M Auras, the Project 3 Trident FFP3s. I tested the regular size and the regular size with extended strap length with a quick PortaCount test to see how well they fit and filter, and they scored higher than a 3M Aura 9205+. I also checked out the strap tension to see how they differ from the 3M tri-fold masks. Turns out there is *a lot* more strap tension, even the "extended" straps version. The straps are longer at rest than a 3M Aura, so it might seem like they would be looser, but the strap material is much thicker. And I found them to be a bit tighter than I'd like. These black tri-folds are a collaboration between The Face Mask Store in the UK and Trident Safety in Australia to make nice looking black versions of Trident's existing masks. They are certified as FFP3 respirators, the EU's highest standard for filtering facepiece respirators, a standard that is more protective than the US N95 standard. The Project 3 masks come in extra small, small, regular, regular extended straps and XXL. When in stock, The Face Mask Store offers a sample pack with 1 of each size. I purchased these myself for review.
