Physicians expressed very positive experiences in the interviews, highlighting the value of maintaining conversations with patients in a context of mutual understanding.

Vaccination appointments after the conversation with physicians were also higher than in the control group: +28% in the case of the empathic refutation interview and 34% in the motivational interview group.

Additionally, we found negative correlations between the aggression and anti-conventionalism factors of left-wing authoritarianism and the ventromedial prefrontal cortex. This area is crucial to update beliefs in the face of new information.

As a robustness check, these brain areas also correlated negatively with ideological variables related to their respective forms of authoritarianism (i.e., radical feminism, cultural feminism, and social dominance orientation).
