The whole SmackDown drama could just be a way of hogging the headlines because there’s an AEW PPV next week.

@roylucier Yeah, but the panic was kinda planned (allegedly) because the territory was such a non WCW area. It’s like someone high up (Vince) wanted it to fail because he saw WCW as not his vision so therefore, low rent.

Someone please correct me if this is incorrect. I once heard a story that WWF management had years of plans for the WWF vs WCW "Invasion" storyline, but then the first WCW show happened in Tacoma, WA on July 2nd, 2001, with Booker T vs Buff Bagwell as a WCW match. Apparently, some fans went to the ticket counter and asked for refunds, saying they bought tickets to a WWF event, not WCW. Management heard about this and panicked, and several years of angles were shortened to having the feud end at the end of the year (Survivor Series, to be exact) My point for mentioning the story is, if that same mentality had existed with Danhausen's debut, he would have been canned and out the door before Mania. But current management and those with a vision stuck with Danhausen and now he's easily one of the best parts of TV every week
