The Contradictory Client They say "keep it simple" — then send you a reference image with 4 fonts, 6 colors, a gradient background, two logos, and a Bible verse in the corner. How to handle them:Breathe. Ask one question, "What feeling do you want people to have when they see it

The Fearful Client: They say simple because they're scared of bold. They don't actually know what they want. How to handle them: Build their confidence first. Show them examples of "simple but powerful" before you show them your work. Prime their eye before you reveal solutions.

How To Handle It The Genuinely Minimal Client They've seen clean, whitespace-driven design. They know exactly what they want. They have examples. Apple. Nike. Zara. How to handle them: Take them seriously. Go minimal. Let whitespace breathe. Resist the urge to add.

So "keep it simple" actually means: → "Don't confuse me." → "Don't make me feel like this is too complicated for my brand." → "Make sure I can understand it immediately." → "Don't make me look like I'm trying too hard."

When a client says "keep it simple" — they are not talking about design. They are talking about their fear. Fear that it will look too busy. Fear that people won't understand it. Fear that it will feel "too much" for their audience. They're not giving you a design directive.
