The argument that there are currently no "Australian-flagged ships" stuck in the Gulf so we don't need to be able to negotiate directly with Iran like others can, is deranged. (The French container ship allowed through yesterday sailed under a Maltese flag btw.) We need the strait to be open to all vessels used to transport crude to Asia, whether they're Australian - associated or not. We need to be able to negotiate with Iran for that outcome. But we're tied to Israel & the US, & we kicked out the Iranian ambassador because Mossad said to, and that's us fucked. We don't have a seat at that negotiating table. Iran will not deal with hostile countries & we are most definitely in that category.
