As a dyslexic child I was put into a few reading interventions that didn't work for me before I found one that did. This was very hard on my self esteem. Please don't just assume the interventions that are offered to your child are going to work.

@DeLorenzoEdS @janhasbrouck This saddens me so much! I have heard similar things from others and experienced it with my own children. The problem is that many teachers don’t know any better or understand the research.

"Your daughter is so smart. She just isn't TRYING hard enough." Remembering those words still makes my blood boil. Come to my house, watch my brilliant, sensitive, brave dyslexic daughter work and tell me HOW IN THE WORLD she could try any harder!!!🤬
