Sarah Al-Barsh (10 years old) is a Palestinian child who lost both of her arms following an Israeli strike that previously targeted the Jabalia area in the northern Gaza Strip. 'When I filmed her upon her arrival at Al-Maamadani Hospital, my heart nearly stopped. I felt overwhelming sorrow and could not hold back my tears. I imagined her as if she were my own daughter, and I asked myself: what did this innocent child do to deserve losing her arms? I then moved closer to the bed and asked a man standing beside her what had happened. With deep sadness, he told me that she had been playing happily in front of their home, holding her toy—he pointed to the necklace in her hand. But suddenly, the ground shook due to the Israeli bombardment. We were then shocked to learn that Sarah’s father had been killed, and she was injured. Now she lies on the hospital bed, awaiting the amputation of her arms—along with the necklace she was holding. My heart could not bear the scene. I left the place and found a corner to cry in anguish. I do not know when these wounds will ever stop in Gaza. I am a human being before I am a journalist.
