Miren Iriarte was hesitant to join a gym at 65, but a nudge from a neighbor led her to Health First’s Pro‑Health & Fitness Center – and it changed her life. 👟 Before joining, she couldn’t pull herself up from the floor. Now she can do it effortlessly, and she says, “This energy I have, I want to do more. Once you start doing it, you want to. I feel stronger and healthier.” Since starting, Miren has embraced yoga, Pilates, swimming, and Body Sculpting classes with trainer Stephanie Werkeiser, making fitness a regular part of her life. It’s not just exercise – it’s a supportive community, a social outlet, and a way to stay active, independent, and confident. Learning to surf the waves of grief 🏄🏻‍♂️🌊 Grief can come in waves — sometimes calm, sometimes overwhelming. For children, learning how to navigate those feelings can make all the difference. At Camp Bright Star, kids ages 5–12 are invited to spend the day learning how to surf the waves of grief in a supportive space created just for them. Through art, music, play, and connection with others who understand, children will learn to express their feelings, build friendships with peers who share similar experiences, and discover meaningful ways to heal. Guided by Hospice of Health First specialists and compassionate volunteers, every activity is designed to nurture young hearts and remind them they are never alone. Offered through Hospice of Health First, Bright Star is a free grief support program that brings children and families together for healing and connection. 📅 Saturday, April 25 | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. 📍 Gleason Park, Indian Harbour Beach Registration required. Lunch, snacks and drinks provided. Call 321.434.3242 or register at ow.ly/sS7H50YwMsE #BrevardGriefSupport #CampBrightStar

This week, Viera Hospital opened its doors to approximately 70 Brevard Public Schools seniors for Student Exploration Day. Students rotated through Q&A sessions, test-drove a Robotic Bronchoscopy system, and discovered just how many career paths exist inside a hospital. “Hospitals like this operate because of a large team of professionals working side by side, all focused on improving the health and wellness of the communities we serve,” MaryJo Allen, Interim President of Viera Hospital explained. "Our community depends on people who are passionate about helping others, and many of you may very well become the next generation of caregivers serving right here in Brevard County." We're proud to partner with Brevard Public Schools and help shape the future of healthcare in Brevard County, together. Almost two years ago, we broke ground on the new Cape Canaveral Hospital in Merritt Island. This week, we celebrated the topping-off ceremony—the placement of the final steel beam. Our 8-foot Health First-branded beam was signed by hundreds of associates and project partners, and stands as a symbol of progress, teamwork, and our commitment to this community. The new 268,000-square-foot hospital will feature 120 private beds, 25 emergency treatment rooms, 6 operating rooms, and a 92,000-square-foot Medical Office Building—all designed with safety, accessibility, and patient experience in mind. Construction continues through 2026, with the hospital set to open mid-2027. A huge thank you to our partners—@gilbanebuilding, The Lawrence Group, @ConcordG, BCER Engineering, and our Health First facilities team—for helping us reach this milestone. Together, we are building more than a hospital—we are modernizing care and strengthening our promise to Brevard County for generations to come. Yesterday, we officially signed a partnership with Operator Solutions to strengthen our emergent response and enhance how we care for patients in the most critical moments. Improving the health and wellness of the communities we serve means preparing not only for everyday care, but also for the most complex and high-risk situations. By combining the expertise of our trauma teams and the resources of Health First—including Brevard’s only Level II Trauma Center at Holmes Regional Medical Center—with Operator Solutions’ advanced field rescue capabilities, we are reinforcing one of the most critical moments in patient care: the transition. Since day one, we have been aligned around a single priority: saving lives. This partnership is uniquely positioned for Florida’s Space Coast, where commercial spaceflight, maritime activity and coastal risks require seamless coordination between rescue teams and hospital medicine.
