Over the last few weeks Horizons students have been planning a set of career focused lessons so they could teach groups from Schools. Today we welcomed a class from @StMartinsDerby to take part in the lesson - our students did a great job of teaching and building skills 👍👍👍

Thanks to @OD_Collective and @derbyquad for an absolutely fantastic day. We toured the superb exhibition, took part in a spoken word workshop and developed some great break dancing skills. Students were amazing throughout. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Yesterday students took part in a dance therapy session with a student from Derby University, the activities were fantastic and engagement was great. These sessions will now be weekly after Christmas. 💃🕺👯‍♀️👯💃🕺

Jack our yr12 student has started his role in Horizons as ICT Technician on work experience, throughout the week he will be keeping a list of any issues then helping our ICT support from @leadictservices on a Friday. Well done Jack, you are doing a great job 👨‍💻

Started our project at Elvaston Castle today, we have been clearing important areas to allow for better drainage so the site doesn’t flood. Students worked brilliantly all day and managed to clear a huge area. Well done all 🌳🪵🌱

This morning we had a virtual session with Tom and Nigel from @NW_MoneySense NatWest. We explored the facts about what banks offer and how to stay safe with online banking - we followed it up with a trip to our local banks to find out interest rates. 💷💷💷💷💷💷💷

We have collected our prizes for winning the best teamwork category in the Climate INaction midlands maker challenge @derbymuseums @MuseumofMaking @MakerMidlands Brilliant work by the students, thanks to Hope and Paul for supporting us - looking forward to the next challenge 🙌

Yesterday we had a visit from former Boxing World Champion Damon Hague. Damon came to talk to our students about his career, healthy living, keeping positive and adult life. Students asked some great questions and were really engaged, loved seeing the championship belt. 🥊♥️

Today we showed our respect to the fallen on Remembrance Day at Derby Market Place. We had activities all morning around remembrance and what it means, making poppy wreaths that we left at the war memorial after the service. #Remembrance #RemembranceDay2021 #LestWeForget

Today we have been working as a team to create bird boxes for the nature reserve at Normanton Arboretum. Students worked brilliantly together, supporting each other and encouraging everyone. Fantastic community project developing employability skills @DerbysWildlife #Careers

Fantastic visit to Severn Trent @stwater for students to find out about the different jobs there and a tour of the building. Staff from Severn Trent then came to our new provision on Irongate for a tour and Q&A with students. Massive thanks for taking your time out. #Careers

Our 3rd week at the Normanton Arboretum with @DerbysWildlife where we are clearing and preparing a nature reserve for the local community. Fantastic progress so far and the place is looking ready to start planting in the next few weeks. Well done all students. 🌳🌿🌍🪱🐝🐜🕸

Students today have been taking part in teamwork activities, they were asked to think of conflicts when working together and what actions could take place to resolve. These were split into positive and negative actions, some great debates between each team 🗣🗣🗣 @PrincesTrust
