It is with deep sadness that the Howick Township Fire Department acknowledges the passing of Retired Chaplain Gary Goodkey on Sunday, January 18th, 2026. Gary faithfully served our members and their families from 2013 to 2019. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Effective 12:00 a.m. on August 5, 2025, a countywide open-air fire ban is now in place across all municipalities in Huron County. 🚫 What is prohibited: • All open-air burning (burn barrels, brush, yard waste) Campfires are permitted but must be fully extinguished after use.

OPP have advised us of the following local road closures - Harriston Rd. (County Rd. 87) from Bluevale to Minto-Howick Townline - Amberley Rd. (County Rd. 86) from Bluevale to Wingham - Brussels Line (County Rd. 12) from Amberley Rd. (County Rd. 86) to Blyth Rd. (County Rd. 25)

Fuel-fired heating appliances like dryers, furnaces, boilers, and fireplaces are all sources of carbon monoxide. If the vent is blocked, this poisonous gas can reach deadly levels inside the home. Know where the vents on your home are and be sure to clear them when shoveling.

As part of Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week, happening November 1st-7th 2024, The Howick Township Fire Department is reminding residents about the risks of carbon monoxide and the important steps to take to avoid exposure in their homes.

Almost 250 people attended the Haunted Hall this year, and the below dry goods along with almost $400.00 will be donated to the North Huron Community Food Share! Once again, a big thank you to Golden Mayan Foods and Gray's Auction Service for donating all of the candy!

All set up and ready to go! Howick's Haunted Fire Hall, today from 1pm-5pm at the Howick Fire Station - 2005 Nelson St in Gorrie. Fun for all ages! We're also accepting food or cash donations at the entrance for the North Huron Community Food Share!

Join us for an extra spooky Sunday afternoon on Sunday October 27th from 1pm-5pm at the Howick Fire Station for our 2nd annual Haunted Fire Hall! Kids will receive a sweet treat at the exit graciously donated by Golden Mayan Foods of Gorrie & Gray's Auction Service of Harriston

Firefighters Breakfast is in full swing! We're serving food until 12, stop by the Fire Station in Gorrie for a great meal!
