Several 'Cubanologues' are pushing a new talking point that suggests the total collapse of our national electricity grid was not only due to Cuba's lack of fuel, but mainly due to our failure to invest in our electricity system for years. counterpoint: you are wrong.

I have called Cuba's elections democratic. But I'm not the only one. The Minnesota Journal of Law and Inequality referred to them as "remarkably democratic" in 2022. Other scholars have also referred to the elections as democratic. A "one-party," or no-party, rule does not mean people don't have different views or opinions. Marginalized Cubans have rights we don't have in the United States. They did that by referendum with 75% of the country voting. That sounds pretty democratic to me. lawandinequality.org/2022/11/02/cub…
Andrés Pertierra@ASPertierra

@extremearturo Also, Arturo, I've seen you unironically arguing that Cuba is a democracy when this is a position that not only Cubans themselves don't hold in private but that even Galeano recognized in his short bit on Fidel in his book Mirrors. This is fundamentally unserious

Late last night the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force informed me that a plot against my life that was "about to" take place, and that agents had conducted an operation in Hoboken related to this plot. For months, Zionist organizations like Betar and politicians like Randy Fine have encouraged violence against my family and me. I will have more to say as additional details come to light. I will not stop speaking up for the people of Palestine. Thank you for your support. nytimes.com/2026/03/27/nyr…

🌞Within 12 months, Cuba more than tripled the amount of electricity generated by solar power, increasing its contribution power generation from 5.8% in early 2025 to over 20% by 2026. By Feb 2026, solar power accounted for 38% of daytime electricity generation. 2k MW by 2028!

The media’s sleaziest propagandists are mad about the recent aid mission to Cuba, smearing activists who brought supplies. They’re trying to distract from the real story: the inhuman denial of fuel by the U.S. currentaffairs.org/news/how-to-sl…

Each year, the U.S. spends $445 billion on mass incarceration. Less than 2% of that goes toward indigent defense — public defenders, and private counsel appointed by courts, representing poor folks who can't afford a lawyer. Does that look like a system invested in "justice"?

🚨After 29 hours, our electrical system is fully operational again. In Latin America, it can take weeks to restore national electrical grids. The fact that Cuban electrical workers accomplished this in such short time is a testament to the tenacity, and ingenuity of our people.

🇻🇪Where and when did the Bolivarian Revolution begin? For many, it was on February 27, 1989 in Guarenas, Venezuela. The uprising in Guarenas against transportation fee hikes spread across Caracas and became known as the Caracazo, one of the first uprisings against neoliberalism in Latin America. The uprising was violently repressed, but served as the spark for the Bolivarian Revolution led by Commander Hugo Chávez Frias.
