The bravest people I have ever met have been women who are seeking asylum or have been trafficked. So let’s stop with all this Happy international Women’s day. Stop with the how many women are in Parliament? Instead speak out against and stop the appalling illegal migration bill

Having ratified ICESCR, the UK Government is committed to achieving parity between mental and physical health services and to reducing mental health inequalities. We need to hold them to account to make this happen! 🧵7/8

“As a mental health nurse I’m dealing with patients who's illness is triggered by their housing situation (rent arrear, not fit for their overall health, overcrowding). Patients get referred to services b/c of the same issues again & again...Our service is at tipping point 🧵5/8

“Whats the point of seeking help for my wellbeing-nothing changes. They don’t care about us. I have asked for help over 10times. But they keep telling me to refer myself to where? The system doesn’t meet my cultural needs. I’m in so deep that I can’t think straight anymore” 🧵4/8

If one is lucky enough to find such a provision before they reach a crisis point it usual a training or awareness session which isn’t culturally appropriate for the community as most of the time English language is used for these sessions. 🧵3/8

With such a high proportion of the borough’s population coming from black and ethnic minority communities (65%) there is a stark gap with the Borough’s minimal provision in place for the mental health and wellbeing need of people from BAME communities. 🧵2/8

@IntisaarOrg in the diverse community of #Brent explored access to health. Coming out of pandemic w/high mortality rates in 1st wave, the lack of culturally appropriate Mental Health care & support services is 'woefully inadequate' Violating Art12-Right to Health #CESCR2023 🧵1/8

For the #CESCR2023 submission @ThriveTeesside based in the North East of England focused on Article 9 - the Right to Social Security. Thrive say: The overall provision of welfare and social security is woefully inadequate and is insufficient to cover basic needs 🧵1/8

First up in the @GRIPPUK's submission to #CESCR2023 @raparuk focused on the Right to Work - Article 6 in ICESCR. Right now, most displaced people in the UK are banned from working; forced to waste their skills and talent and condemned to live in poverty. 🧵1/7
