Imagine being a grown man gossiping online about how another grown man spends his money. That’s where I should leave it, but as a social worker I am compelled to respond. What exactly is the point of this post? Are you bringing awareness to the fact that the tips are part of the economic framework in many working class industries in the U.S., where companies get to shift responsibility of their personnel costs directly to the consumer? Is this public shaming a way to advocate for the working class? Is this supposed to bring people together? Did you share your thoughts with the person you’re speaking of? Did you take a moment to hear his side, to gain a better perspective of this situation? You said this person should use their financial resources to help someone in need. Well the (poker) world is in need of positivity, for those with far-reaching platforms to use it to bring people together. Look at comments, we’re arguing with each other about something that no one really cared that much about until you said something. That is the power YOU have. You can use it to build the (poker) community or to help destroy it. What you choose says a lot about YOUR character.

Imagine you are a millionaire playing a $10k buy in at PokerGo Studio, you order two FREE Fijis from the cocktail waitress. In your hand is a $5 bill, you go to your pocket and pull out a wad of $100 bills and in there you dig to find two dirty $1 bills. Waitress comes back with your Fijis and you hand her the two $1 bills. Could have just sprung for the $5, but nah. You gain $3 in EV for your selfish self. I guess I should give the guy a little credit for not asking her to break a $1. Actions speak louder than words. You had a chance to make a difference for a single mother working her ass off to pay the bills, but you chose the dirty $1’s. All of this poker drama on social media is silly! What kind of cornball, keyboard gangster, bullshit nonsense is going on right now?! If you think you’ve been done wrong on the table you should: 1) Initiate a conversation with that person or group of people offline and resolve that shit like adults, 2) If you choose to engage on a public forum, use a moderator that is professionally skilled to handle these types conflicts, 3) Put the gloves on, get in the ring, box it out and STFU.
