Nothing is ever mentioned about Frank as a footballer. Just a goal scorer. Like no one was paying attention. His range of passing to take apart low blocks or stretch the game with long balls in behind, had every pass in his locker.

Tactically ill disciplined. Why he was rarely seen in a midfield two or even 3 under Benitez. Only Rodgers used him as a lone DM with runners around him towards the end.

I find it odd how for some reason, for the past 10+ years, people have become completely obsessed with the idea of playing football in their own defensive third, and how finding ways to build out from there is the sign of a progressive and attacking coach.
Of course there are very impressive things here.
But this entire passage of play involved using many players and the ball stayed in the defensive third for the vast majority of it…
When did people stop assessing how managers and teams attack, the actual final 3rd being the first thing they looked at?
