@imken24 @BenPopeCST The player most valuable to his team is inherently the best player in the league. The Ted Linsday is most outstanding player and it’s voted on by the players.

@BenPopeCST Worst possible take. Words should matter to a writer. “Most valuable to his team” is the Hart Trophy. Best player gets the Ted Lindsay award. It’s very disappointing to see someone with a vote vocalize that they don’t understand that.

My two cents on the Celebrini/Hart Trophy debate: I don’t care what the Hart wording is. In every other sport, the MVP goes to the best player. It would be nonsensical for the NHL to do it differently. Fortunately, in reality, it does it the same way. And that’s how I vote.
cassi💙@joann87771

@ThomasDrance @wyshynski @s Why did you have Macklin lower on your ballot? I mean, the definitions of what the damn Hart trophy stands for is EXACTLY what Celebrini was to the Sharks. Idk maybe I missed what the Hart trophy was.

@the_habitant Bro you were the 24th ranked team in the expanded playoffs. “We went to the finals”, your team was trash, they had a nothing route to the final.

We went to the finals in 2021 and the playoffs the year before We also had one of the oldest teams in the league By its very definition, we weren’t rebuilding, we were just mid And “we had Caufield”, we drafted him in the middle of the first round, not top 10. Good players fall, that doesn’t mean we were rebuilding

It’s crazy just how much the #GoHabsGo have leapfrogged all the other rebuilding teams in the NHL since 2022 when we finished last in the league and BEGAN our own rebuild

@Cosmicneurons13 He has 3 goals and 4 points in 10 AHL games split between the regular season and playoffs. It was a nice rush, he's not too good for the league.

@AustonPowerz @CanadasLeafs Matthews will be gone and that’s okay. He couldn’t get the job done and he’s already given the Leafs his best years. Your d core is ancient and you have no young players coming, outside of McKenna. Rebuild is the only path forward.

@AustonPowerz @CanadasLeafs Pretty easy. Hey Auston, you want to be here long-term? Absolutely. I love it here. This is home now. This is where I want to be. I believe I can win here.

I do not believe any of the narratives about 34. All BS as far as I am concerned. He’s been very clear about wanting to turn things around in Toronto.

@ligh64283 @the_habitant Sven Bartschi went 13th that draft. Ryan Murphy went 12th. Namestnikov and Phillips were 1st round picks. Rocco Grimaldi was 3rd pick of the second round.

@ligh64283 @the_habitant No, it was because he's Russian and was playing in Russia. The size concerns push him to the mid-late 1st, not completely out of the 1st round & not deep into the 2nd round. If he was Swedish, he'd have been a mid-1st.

Genuinely insane to be comparing McKenna to Kucherov People were disrespecting McKenna by not having him in their top 2 at the beginning of the year (which I said was a gross undervaluation of him, he’s always been the clear 1OA), but now it’s taken a full 180.
Willyston Riellander@nylanderthews

If all goes well, this is Gavin McKenna at his peak. You live with the bad defense because he's a goddamn wizard with the puck on his stick. Don't overthink this.

@ligh64283 @the_habitant Kucherov was only a 2nd round pick because he's Russian. He dummied the MHL and was the best player at the u18s that year.

The revisionist history around Marner is something else. He has 9 points in his last 3 games, playing against two teams with no playoff experience. Anaheim specifically bleeds chances, they have all year -- they gave up the third most goals *in the league* this year.

@VinnieParise It won't likely be a 3-year ELC. Kantserov is only eligible for a 3-year ELC. The term is based on age: <=21-year-old players have to sign 3-year ELCs.

“Yeah, I think some point in the next little while,” Kyle Davidson said on signing Roman Kantserov after the draft lottery ended. “I think over the next couple of weeks or so, we can chat with his representatives and see what they’re thinking for next year.” It will likely be a 3 year ELC with performance bonuses attached. We’ll see for sure once he’s officially signed.
Vinnie Parise@VinnieParise

Roman Kantserov terminated his KHL contract and is expected to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks to pursue his NHL career. New for @TheHockeyNews: thehockeynews.com/nhl/chicago-bl…

@ejmichele Similar to Carels this year. I don't think many would project Carels to be a game-breaking PP1-type player in the NHL. He'll be able to make plays, transition the puck and will play on a PP unit but he won't put up 50+ points a year.

@ejmichele Reid is a more natural/coordinated puck-handler. As a result, he's able to make plays that Dickinson has and will struggle to make with pace. I think Sharks fans see the totals Dickinson put up in his D+1 and think he's an elite offensive D but that's not going to be his game.

Ok watched a little-but-not-a-lot of Reid and I still need someone to explain what justifies this difference in their projections. In fact, stylistically, even their defensive game is a bit similar — mobile, toolsy, check-finishing, occasionally positionally suspect. What gives?
