A five year old iPhone is now very cheap, and still more or less usable for most people. But its end-of-life is approaching fast. It'll get maybe one or two more iOS updates. That's why refurb models are so cheap nowadays. Here's what to get instead (and why) 👇

I've been using the iPhone 15 Pro Max (I bought it refurbished earlier this year) as my daily driver. It's incredible for literally everything I need: photos, video and work / life stuff. I paid less than the price of a base model iPhone 17 for it. Why would you buy new?

The Pixel 8a is a fantastic phone, even in 2026. Great camera, great screen, and it's still supported (until 2031). And you can now get one for less than $200. That's probably the thickest slice of value for money you'll see all day...

These two phones used to be top of the food chain in the Android market. That was 12+ months ago. But they're both still killer phones. The big difference? You can now get them for 40% less which makes either a great choice in 2026. But which is the true MVP outta the too?

The iPhone 17e is coming, and it has some notable improvements. But is there still a case for getting the 16e refurbished? Or, should you just go with something else entirely (probably what I'd do). Here's how new compares to outgoing, and where the real value for money is

If you're running an ANCIENT iPhone (like and iPhone 8 or older), maybe don't spunk all your cash on the iPhone 17. For my money, the iPhone 15 (and to a lesser extent, the iPhone 14) offer insane value for money right now (refurbished, of course). Mid-range prices FTW
