Ich habe einmal bei einer Präsentation vor amtierenden Bürgermeistern den Vergleich zwischen öffentlichen Bibliotheken und ihren Äquivalenten zu digitalen Repositorien gezogen. Politiker investieren gerne zweistellige Millionenbeträge in moderne physische Architekturen für öffentliche Bibliotheken, haben aber nicht verstanden, dass in der heutigen Welt der öffentliche Zugang zu digitalen Artefakten das Äquivalent zu den Büchern ist, die unsere wissenschaftlichen Formeln dokumentieren.
