A woman was on top of Ola. “What!”
They stopped, and stared at me in shock.
Then, the pain hit me more when I saw the woman.
It was Ada.
My "supportive" best friend was using the same bed I helped him pay for, while I was using my school fees to fund their lifestyle.
What a life.

The door was unlocked. As I stepped inside, I saw a pair of female slippers near the couch.
They weren't mine.
Then, the sounds started coming from the bedroom. Moans. My hands started shaking as I walked towards the door and pushed it open.
I wasn't ready for what I saw.

The next evening, I went to surprise Ola at home. I called him on the way, but he didn't pick up.
When I got to his "face-me-I-slap-you" apartment, his friend, Femi was outside. “Our wife, you’re here? Ola is busy inside o.”
“Busy doing what?” I ignored him and walked inside.

My roommate, Ada, watched me from the mirror as she did her makeup.
“Good woman,” she praised. “Support your man. He won’t forget you when he makes it.”
Unlike my other friends who called me a fool, Ada always encouraged me. She was the only one who understood. Or so I thought.

My boyfriend’s voice crackled over the phone.
“Ola, stop cursing yourself. I’m only doing this for our future.”
I had just sent him my school fees again. It was everything my parents had raised, but I believed in his business. I believed in us.
