@unchained_hound Yeah, I think that it takes understanding from all sides. Fans who haven't experienced aspects of the piece should be aware that they're likely missing some context, and those who have that context shouldn't be condescending about it

@LeaFishhook They hop from thing to thing almost exclusively as an excuse for socializing and whatever the source material is becomes second hand if relevant at all. This of course leads to a ton of issues in fandom- unnecessary discourse and... I personally find it insulting to art itself?

The idea that disabled people should be kept away from an entire field of art instead of encouraging companies (and now with 3D printing- other average folks) to make tools to aid them is insane and I hate this mentality.

@unchained_hound I've now read even more of that thread and believe it wasn't poor wording after all, they had bad, limited takes on a broader idea. My views on the broader ideas stand.

@unchained_hound Reading back in the thread, this was said in support of the idea that a person doesn't need to play a game to be a fan. I don't think they meant that no disabled people can play video games, only that there are reasons a person *may* not be able to, and just worded it poorly.

@unchained_hound Also, with some video games, the full experience can actually decrease enjoyment, through no fault of the game but just how an individual enjoys things. I am self-aware enough to realize when a game would be too frustrating for me, but I enjoy watching someone else play it

@unchained_hound I know I'm losing some of the intended art piece, but it is what it is. I think it's needlessly divisive to hold the full experience of an artpiece so sacredly. People who enjoy an artpiece should be able to discuss their enjoyment of it regardless of their level of experience.

@unchained_hound I've never played a LoZ game in my life, not counting the 5 min store demo of Ocarina. But I've watched a lot of gameplay & know a lot of the story & I'd be hella irritated if someone tried to discount my enjoyment of the franchise by saying I can't be a fan bc I haven't played.

@unchained_hound In that light, I do agree with them. Plenty of disabled and poor people can play all kinds of video games, but those *can* be barriers to some people, among other barriers, and those who enjoy a piece of media in a way they find accessible can still be considered a fan.

@rechained_hound I feel like that's true for most people. Some of my dearest lifelong friends I would probably strangle if I had to share a home with them. You have to match vibes very precisely to live smoothly with another person long term.

@byStarmont69 @IndieGameJoe "Not appealing to you" isn't the same as "doesn't fit with a cozy game." I personally think the aesthetic fits well. It looks chill and relaxing like a calm nature walk. It's fine if you don't care for it, but that doesn't make it a fundamental problem with the game.

Stella was always going to be a thorn in their sides but she was much worse living with them. Unless she was masking during those early years which is not a impression I get.

A reminder that Stolas and Stella are practically immortal, meaning that if they'd stayed married and insisted on fidelity, they wouldn't have had sex again FOREVER. Also, why is everyone assuming that Hell's marriage vows are identical to human ones?
