@NAIAFootballVSN This is not the NAIA fault! The Marian's staff did not have the proper checks and balances. Coach Karras and staff failed cross T's and dot i's. So this is the result. Of Marian staff pays attention, they catch it immediately, take 1 loss and you're still playing on Saturday.

My Thoughts on the Marian Football Withdrawing from the NAIA FB Postseason: First, there is no perfect resolution to this situation. It's a terrible place for everyone to be in. Marian, Dordt, Keiser, the NAIA...no one wins and that's terrible for all the student athletes involved. But one thing I don't agree with are the shots at Marian over the last 48 hours. The name calling; Scumbags. . .cheaters. . .how could this happen?!? To the people with this take: Shut the fuck up. Do you know how this was reported? It was self reported. That's right, the very school you are calling cheaters. . .actively contacted the NAIA and said "hey we have an issue." If the above accusations were true they could've waited until after the postseason to report the issue. They didn't and there's integrity in that. Read the statement from Coach Karras on my timeline for more. The issue isn't some scandalous, salacious issue hidden for weeks that finally came to light. This was a student athlete who was previously enrolled fulltime, that dropped a class and it took him below 12 hours. The majority of the people I see taking shots at everyone don't even know the number of credit hours you need to take to be a fulltime student. Furthermore, I doubt they even have any college credit hours of their own. And do you not think for a second everyone involved feels horrible about this? The student athlete, the registrar, the athletic department, Coach Ted Karras? The pits in their stomach are as deep as the Berkley Pit in Butte, MT. (Which you can visit if you attend a Montana Tech game!) I've seen blame thrown at the NAIA. Why? The NAIA is the governing body with a set of rules that all schools have to follow. They've responded accordingly and removed Marian from the postseason. Do we all wish there was a way to still allow Marian to play or put Dordt in their place? Absolutely. . .but it's not going to happen. I do wish the student-athletes at Dordt would have been given an opportunity to go to Florida and compete. But the decision has been made and that also is not going to happen. Their athletic director responded PERFECTLY in his statement. That's leadership right there. Keiser University will not play Saturday and advance to the semifinals. This is the same protocol from the last time this happened in the NAIA football postseason in 2008 when NW Oklahoma State defeated Friends, had to forfeit after the fact and Carroll College advanced to the semifinals. People will say this is unfair. Yes, that's true. But it's also unfair to ask them to plan for a new opponent on two days notice. A lot of things in this situation can be see as "unfair" - way too many to list. The NAIA has handled this based on their policies and if people are unhappy, the administrators at NAIA schools will propose changes to that in the future. But those changes cannot happen midseason because of this situation. I'm a blogger with a website, podcast and some social media accounts. My opinion is worth exactly the same as yours. There will be plenty more to say, but that's my take for now. Hat's off to my longest post ever on X.
