The current inhabitants have no local roots older than ~80 years. This is one of the most radical "ethnic resets" in Europe.

All states are political constructs, but not all are equally artificial. Some emerge from long civilisational and linguistic continuities. Others are drawn by diplomatic compromise, conquest, or elite decision. The question is not whether a state was “created”, but whether its borders reflect a real historical community. Italy or Romania were not formed strictly along clear ethnic or cultural lines. They were products of political unification and strategic decisions. Statehood is always constructed, but the degree of civilisational continuity varies.
