Our students recently took part in an engaging session led by our Entrepreneurship and Innovation team, introducing them to the AwardX Youth Entrepreneurship Competition. Salah Osman, LaunchX’s Strategic Partnerships and Expansion Lead for East Africa, shared insights on how AwardX equips young innovators with practical skills and real-world venture-building experience. LaunchX, originally developed at MIT, continues to expand its footprint across the region, supporting students to develop viable, revenue-generating startups. From delivering a keynote as a high school student to shaping conversations on the ground- Emmanuel Dikirr’s journey with @thePDFestival is a testament to the power of youth engagement and continuity. Having first engaged with PDF through the @MPESAFdnAcademy , where he gave the 2023 keynote during the 5th edition, Emmanuel returned this year as a gap year student, curating and coordinating activities at the Ni Sisi Ni Sasa Village at PDF 2026 🎤. At CMD Kenya, we are immensely proud of our growing network of students transitioning from our in-school Gumzo Shuleni engagements into broader civic spaces 🌱. We remain committed to walking this journey with them as they step into their civic responsibility and leadership 🤝.

From Safaricom’s early push to give back in education, health and economic empowerment, to scaling education impact through the M-Pesa Foundation and establishing this Academy to fund scholarships and mould holistic individuals through mentorship, values, leadership and talent.
