@paullewismoney It won't even be £37 each. It'll only be for vulnerable people, low incomes etc....the majority will get nothing, while a few will get more than £37
English

@solisvogel @NetzerohomeUk @duncsand Typical house usage is 8-10kWh per day, call it 10, saving £2.90 per day, so a £4k battery install has a 3.7year pay back time, saving just over £1k a year. In year 4 onwards you're making £1k a year at current prices.
English

@BusyFooFighting @duncsand Yes that's correct, I didn't think of any other battery other than a Tesla power wall👍
English

@MachLoopWales @duncsand You can buy a 10kwh battery for £1500
Inverter for £700 or so
Installation for £1200
This is the quote I have. Less than half of what you suggested.
English

@LateBrakeShow If you can charge at home (now only 3.5p per unit overnight on some tariffs) then 1000 miles of driving will cost around £10 of electricity vs £165 petrol at 40mpg. Much cheaper servicing, tyres last longer, brakes last longer, instant power, quiet, smooth, lots of driver aids
English

@LateBrakeShow @AutoPap Interesting point. I'm still very tempted with a full EV, safe to say you're a big fan of them?
English

EV drivers having to pay 3p per mile in a few years.....the price of petrol has risen 3p this week, if a petrol car does 40mpg, thats 9 miles per litre, so it's already up by 0.3p per mile......that'll soon creep up to nearer 1p per mile @autopap @LateBrakeShow
English

@jamesfooker1 @LateBrakeShow Swap back from what to what? My point was that the 3p per mile EV charge won't be much different to the increase in petrol costs, so will be insignificant
English

@MachLoopWales @LateBrakeShow Then we simple swap back . Simples
English

@jamesfooker1 @duncsand I was assuming it would be a Tesla power wall....apologies
English

@MachLoopWales @duncsand My 5kw cost 1100 .. where u get 7k from ?
English

@Helen_Whately Those children becone adults, the majority will become taxpayers, paying in more than they cost as children. It's a business model
English

@LateBrakeShow @AutoPap @RichardHammond elec costs dropping in April, making it only 3.5p per kWh to charge electric cars overnight.....hasn't been that cheap since around 1980 😱

English

@AutoPap Many people who get taken out in an EV end up buying one......my downfall was when I had 3 Ubers in Porto...one Renaualt Zoe, then a Toyota then a Tesla, all electric and all impressive
English

@RyanceyReturns Thainainr some other countrie's tech? 15% of that jet was built in the UK
English

🇺🇸 WAIT — YOU’RE TELLING ME A $100 MILLION STEALTH JET CAN LAND LIKE A HELICOPTER?! 😱🔥
America’s F-35B Lightning II just dropped out of the sky and hovered to a perfect vertical landing — no runway, no joke. Vertical takeoff & landing. Full stealth mode. Built by American hands, flown by United States Marines, and straight-up terrifying to anyone who even thinks about messing with us.
This isn’t CGI. This isn’t some other country’s tech. This is pure U.S. dominance redefining air combat while the rest of the world watches in awe.
No other nation touches it.
Proud to be American yet? Or does this make you want to stand up and cheer even louder?
Drop your 🔥 in the comments — let’s hear it for the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen! 💪✈️🇺🇸

@SamRaincock Some jurors also lose money by being at court, max allowable loss of earnings being less than they actually earn. Why should somebody lose out financially from being forced to be a juror? No wonder some just agree with the others to get back to work quicker
English

@MachLoopWales I don’t think that is most people’s experience of it. It is not a perfect system but in my personal view, it is the best available.
English

And in the crown court you may get assistance funding your defence & pay for experts like me to examine your phone to see the speeds travelled, and also if you had used your phone.
Equality in arms. Removal of jury is also cost cutting - it will cause miscarriages of justice.
Joanna Hardy-Susskind@Joanna__Hardy
Now. Today. Right now. You would be able to choose to be tried by a jury. 12 voices. 12 experiences. 12 votes. And, you may wish to trust me on this, the vast majority of you would choose a jury to determine a sensitive and delicate case like this involving expert witnesses.

@WalesOffice Only for the vulnerable (low income) households, not for everyone? People using mains gas have a price cap to help, irrespective of income. How about treating all citizens of Wales fairly?
English

The UK Government is providing an extra £3.8m to help people in Wales with rising heating oil bills.
HM Treasury@hmtreasury
For rural communities, recent rises in heating oil prices are a real and urgent problem. That’s why we’re providing over £50m to help those who need it most - including funding for the @niexecutive to deliver support where this hits hardest.
English

@AngryBritain And it's only vulnerable (low income) households that use oil. So that 1.45% is actually much lower. Meanwhile everybody else using gas gets a price cap.
English

@364690 You should see some of the houses in my area that rely on heating oil because they're no mains gas. Lots of council houses, no range rovers, and now no heating oil 😱
English

@HoneyBadger68 @nellis_bil13222 @exRAF_Al I'm not saying he published hate speech towards gays, but the principle is the same. You don't know what words he used, we can't say whatever we want, there are laws to abide by.
English

@HoneyBadger68 @nellis_bil13222 @exRAF_Al Maybe you shouldn't be too quick to judge what's right and wrong....do you know what the arrested man actaully published online? Luckily today, homophobia is illegal,as a Turing advocate do you think someone should be arrested for inciting violence towards gay people for example
English

Too cowardly to go after real criminals, somebody must know his name. When this country has got itself back on track, these people must be gouged out and held to account. I was only obeying orders is not a defence, neither should there be a “truth and reconciliation” process.
Phil Merson@therealpmbo
This scum copper represents the end of Britain. He is the enemy. PC 5527 Name, shame, shun and refuse your services to him.
English

@364690 Don't be daft, Starmer actually said the most vulnerable people (eg low income) will be able to access a crisis fund from their local council. Most people won't be able to get any help at all, meanwhile everybody else gets help with their gas prices with the energy price cap.
