„So Gott will, blühen unsere Kinder auch so“, sagt Salima.

Think about how many Democrats in the US, self-proclaimed liberals and progressives, support this:

Israel is detaining children without charge in record numbers, a rights group has said, subjecting them to hellish conditions that include beatings, the denial of food and water and other forms of torture. New figures from the Israel Prison Service show that of 351 child detainees, 51% are held in so-called “administrative detention”, where people are imprisoned indefinitely without having committed a crime on the grounds that they intend to break the law. The rights group Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCIP) said on Wednesday that this is both the highest number and the highest percentage on record since it began monitoring these figures in 2008. “These numbers come at a time when Palestinian children consistently report appalling and debilitating conditions within Israeli detention facilities,” the group said. This includes being denied “adequate food and water, being subjected to beatings and verbal harassment, lacking access to medical care, and being subjected to torture, including the use of solitary confinement.” The IPS figures for child detainees do not include those who are held in military detention or interrogation centres, which are separate from the prison service. “There is no available data for the number of children or adults detained at these sites,” the group said, “though DCIP has gathered firsthand testimonies from previously detained children describing systematic torture and dehumanising conditions.” For those held in the prison system, their lawyers are “forbidden from passing on simple messages from families, and children who wish to pass along messages to their families”. Under Israel’s apartheid system, being charged is not a reliable indicator that a Palestinian has committed a crime. In 2024, a UN agency said Palestinians had been coerced into falsely confessing to links to Hamas. The Israeli rights group B’Tselem said in January that Israel runs a network of torture camps where thousands of Palestinians are subjected to a “living hell” – and that the country’s political, media and legal institutions are complicit in maintaining them.

Once again, the village of Taybeh—the last entirely Palestinian Christian village in the West Bank—has been stormed by Israeli settlers, who entered a cement factory and a stone quarry, raised an Israeli flag over the site, and announced their control over the area. Father Bashar Fawadleh, the Latin parish priest in the town, confirmed that residents are living under difficult conditions due to military barriers and checkpoints, calling on the international community to witness the reality on the ground and take steps to protect the Christian population. Father Bashar Fawadleh added: “We still have hope. We raise our voice to say that we are Palestinian civilian people. We want to live in peace. We want to live with justice… We ask the world to come and see, to stop these practices, and to allow us to live in safety and peace.” savewestbankchristians.com

Israel wipes out village after village in South Lebanon. Centuries-old historic villages completely erased from the map. Then Israel builds illegal military bases on top of the homes it just destroyed. And the international community watches in silence.

Over 300 children have been killed in illegal US and Israeli attacks in Iran and Lebanon since late February, while more than 1,500 have been injured. The victims include a three-day-old baby and his two-year-old sister, who were killed in a US-Israeli strike on their home in the Iranian city of Arak, Iranian state media reported. Footage released by the Iranian Red Crescent Society on Wednesday showed rescuers pulling a badly injured child from the rubble of a building in Tehran following a US-Israeli attack. The US and Israel claim they do not target civilians, but observers refute this. Jeffrey Sachs, a former special adviser to the UN secretary general, told journalist Piers Morgan earlier this month that the war on Iran is “a kind of mass murder of civilians” that involves “carpet bombing” Tehran. The latest figures for child casualties were compiled by Unicef on Thursday, though the UN agency did not specify the perpetrators of the attacks. Donald Trump has sought to evade US responsibility for a massacre of some 170 schoolgirls in Minab on 28 February, despite mounting evidence that the US carried out the killings. Iran has also killed and injured children with its retaliatory attacks on Israel, Bahrain and Kuwait. Across countries affected by the war, the figures include “202 children reportedly killed in Iran, 107 in Lebanon, four in Israel, and one in Kuwait as well as over 1,190 children injured in Iran, 331 in Lebanon, four in Israel, and four in Bahrain,” Unicef said. “These numbers are likely to rise as the violence intensifies,” the agency added. “Homes, schools, hospitals, and other civilian infrastructure have reportedly been damaged or destroyed in several locations, disrupting services that children rely on for survival and wellbeing.”
