The number of girls playing high school basketball is a crisis no one is talking about. Programs are drying up. Teams can barely fill their rosters. We can't grow this game if we can't get kids to believe it's worth their time. What are programs doing to fix this?

“Rules are for people that can’t follow instructions. I want to have standards. My number one standard is you have to be a good person. You’ve got to be a good human being. If your going to be committed to yourself, your own growth to maximizing your potential you’ve got to make choices that align with what a good human being would do,” Shea Ralph

Parents: You’re raising a child, not an athlete. Teach them respect, hard work, how to be a good person. Show them what character & work ethic are. Hold them accountable. Teach them that they won’t ever get what they don’t earn. Strong, well-rounded kids find success much easier!

Shoutout to all the dads/moms that rebound for their kids Was in the gym yesterday and saw a dad rebounding for his son - not “teaching” him, not criticizing him, not yelling at him - just letting him shoot around & be creative in the gym. NEED more of that!

Overprotected kids become unprepared adults. Dawn Staley nailed it.🔥 You can’t shelter your child from every hard moment and then expect them to handle adversity when it counts. Hard is the lesson. Watch. Share. Bookmark.

Purdue G Braden Smith, G Fletcher Loyer and F Trey Kaufman-Renn on what its like to hear Matt Painter say that they were people who want good education, exhibited loyalty and fought for each other BS: "It's the reason we chose to come here. He was honest and truthful from the beginning. That's what you want, you don't get that everywhere." TKR: "Being able to get a great education, play winning basketball as a 19-23 year old, its all you can ask for." FL: "The decision to come to Purdue turned out to be the best decision I ever made. Purdue is a special place and I'm glad I did it."

Purdue G Braden Smith on the Portal: -"Could I make more money somewhere else? Sure." -"Why would I go somewhere that may not go well, could make me hate basketball, and be potentially miserable?" -"Here, I'm an hour from home and can achieve my dreams. Why mess with that?"

“Now we’re just supposed to hug and kiss everybody. You know what? Do your job right. Go to class and you won’t hear about not going to class. Kids have so many distractions they don’t stay focused on the task at hand. Accountability is going to be big until I leave,” Tom Izzo

The transfer portal has screwed up college sports. My bill is simple: you get 5 consecutive years to play 5 seasons and you get 1 transfer. After that, if you transfer again, you sit out a year. This will fix 80% of the issues in NIL today.
OutKick@Outkick

Exclusive: @CoachForGov introduces ‘Student Athlete Act Of 2026’ aimed at curtailing transfer portal chaos. It give athletes five years to play five seasons, while also penalizing a player 1 year for transferring a second time, he tells @OutKickHotMic outkick.com/sports/tommy-t…

“You’re going to have to show up on days that are hard. That shared commitment, purpose, relentless no matter if you’re getting the results you want or not. When you operate like that in life you set yourself up for success. But even if you don’t succeed, you’ll still be a winner,” Shea Ralph
