@ddmeyer I have tried to stop telling students how to do problems and have done more asking/listening instead. I enjoy teaching this way which makes my life easier.

@NatBanting Nat, this is wonderful. Thank you for sharing! Realizing I did this today in my lesson on multiplying matrices. Multiply a 1x2 by a 2x2, then 1x2 by a 2x3. No wait, a 2x2 by a 2x3. Lots of connections being made as they went!

Trying to shift student mindsets from "when I see this I DO this" (memorizing) to "when I see this I KNOW this" (understanding) can be tough when some have survived by memorizing for so long.

@dwekselgreene @Desmos Thank you for this! We just did this in class today-very timely! I did have an issue with the initial text on slide 5. The last x was missing in this line: displayInitialB = when initialB > 0 "+${initialB}x" otherwise "-${absInitialB}x"

@MrsSheehanMath Our kids can double up in Alg&Geo or Geo&AA (not blocked together just enrolled in each). We have a class in between AA and Pre-Calc but Ss that do well skip to Pre-Calc. No honors classes.

Throwing this out there... Does anyone teach in a school with a traditional schedule (ie not block), where you offer AP Calc senior year but don't have an honors section for your other classes? We have always had Honors A2 + Pre-Calc, but considering changing. #mtbos #iteachmath

Reflecting on @ddmeyer's Math without Mistakes: I had a math professor that once asked us, "If I had a box for all of the correct math I have done and one for all of the wrong math, which would be bigger?" I share this with my Ss every year.
